First Impression
The wine list at Bayberry reads like a confident, no-nonsense American dining room that knows its audience. California and France anchor the whole thing, and the $35–$120 bottle range keeps things accessible without feeling like a grocery store run. It earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025, and the list earns that nod — even if it doesn't reach for the stars.
Selection Deep Dive
The California side leans into the hits: Caymus Cabernet, Jordan Cab, Stag's Leap Chardonnay — these are crowd-pleasing names that will make Long Island regulars happy. France shows up via Louis Jadot and Joseph Drouhin on the Burgundy end, which adds genuine old-world credibility to what could otherwise be a purely New World list. Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling sneaks in from Washington, rounding out the range slightly. The list sits comfortably at 100–150 bottles — enough depth to reward exploration without overwhelming a table trying to order before the apps arrive.
By the Glass
Ten to sixteen pours by the glass is a solid showing for a neighborhood upscale spot, and the $10–$18 range means you're not bleeding out on a single round. We'd like to see more rotation and a few more adventurous pours in the mix, but for a place in Islip catering to date-nighters and celebrating families, this gets the job done.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling — $35
Coming in at the low end of the bottle range, this Washington Riesling punches well above its price point — crisp, food-friendly, and a genuine alternative to the Chardonnay reflex.
Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune
Most tables here are reaching for Caymus, which means this Drouhin Burgundy sits quietly on the list waiting for someone to notice. Classic, elegant, and a world away from the California cab crowd — it rewards the curious.
Meiomi Pinot Noir
You can grab this off a supermarket shelf for $15. At restaurant markup, there's no reason to order it when a Drouhin or even a Jordan is sitting right there.
Jordan Winery Cabernet Sauvignon + Bone-In Ribeye
Jordan Cab is built for exactly this moment — structured enough to stand up to a thick ribeye, smooth enough that it doesn't require a debate at the table.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Bayberry is the kind of reliable wine list that makes a Long Island dinner out genuinely enjoyable rather than a compromise. No fireworks, but no failures either — send a friend here and they won't come back disappointed.
