Order the beer. Seriously, order the beer.

Wingman Metrics
You walk into BJ's and the beer menu is doing all the heavy lifting — and honestly, good for it. The wine list reads like the shelf at a gas station that's really trying its best. It's not offensive, it's just... there.
The lineup is a who's who of supermarket value brands: Dark Horse, Apothic, Ménage à Trois, Ecco Domani. There's no regional story here, no producer worth seeking out, no bottle that would raise an eyebrow in a good way. California and a token Italian Pinot Grigio cover the geography, and that's about as adventurous as it gets. If you handed this list to someone and asked them to guess the restaurant, they'd probably say 'airport Chili's' before they guessed a brewhouse with 150 craft beers on tap.
Glass pours exist, and Tuesday makes them worth considering at half price — otherwise you're paying full restaurant rates on wines you could grab at Safeway on your way home. There's no rotation to speak of, no seasonal addition, nothing that suggests anyone is curating this list with intention. It's a static shelf in glass form.
Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio delle Venezie NV — $10
At near-retail pricing — and especially half that on a Tuesday — this is an inoffensive, crisp pour that at least tastes like what it's supposed to be. Low bar, but it clears it.
Hess Select Chardonnay NV
Hess Select is a genuine step above the rest of this list — it's an actual winery with actual winemaking behind it, not just a brand slapped on a bulk blend. Most people will grab the Apothic by default, but this is the smarter reach.
Apothic Red Winemaker's Blend NV
Sweet, heavy, and built for people who don't really like wine. It's the vinous equivalent of a dessert pretending to be dinner, and at full price there's zero reason to choose it over just ordering a craft beer from the very long list of excellent options six inches to the left on the menu.
Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon NV + Deep-Dish Pizza
Dark Horse Cab is a blunt instrument — lots of dark fruit, soft tannins, zero complexity — but that actually works against a saucy, cheese-heavy deep-dish. You don't want a wine that fights the pizza. You want one that just shows up and gets along.
Tuesday — BJ's chain-wide 'Wine Down Tuesday' promo: half off all wines by the bottle or glass, all day. Confirm with the Stockton location as availability may vary by store.
❌ The Bottom Line
BJ's is a great brewhouse that happens to have wine on the menu as an afterthought, and that's fine — just order the beer. If wine is non-negotiable, show up on a Tuesday and keep your expectations calibrated to the surroundings.
