First Impression
The wine list at Campo reads like a love letter to the Mediterranean — Spain and Italy front and center, with a nod to the Rhône for good measure. It's a focused, 80-to-150-bottle program that actually makes sense alongside wood-fired flatbreads and paella. This isn't a list someone threw together last minute.
Selection Deep Dive
Campo leans hard into Rioja, Tuscany, and the Rhône Valley, which is exactly the right call for a Mediterranean kitchen. The regional focus keeps things coherent rather than scattershot, and there's enough depth to reward repeat visits without overwhelming a casual diner. That said, the bottle list skews toward crowd-pleasing American labels — Cakebread, Duckhorn, Meiomi — that feel a little out of place on a menu this Iberian. Those bottles eat up real estate that could go to a Ribera del Duero or a Vermentino worth getting excited about.
By the Glass
Twelve to twenty pours by the glass is a genuinely good number — enough to match whatever direction the table is going without making the decision exhausting. Estimated glass prices run $12–$22, which is reasonable for a downtown Reno wine bar. We'd love to see more rotation on the glass list to push diners toward the Mediterranean bottles where Campo actually shines.
Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Napa Valley 2021 — $65
At 71% over retail, this is the least-gouged bottle in the American section — and it's a crowd-pleaser that drinks above its price point. Not the most adventurous pick, but if the table wants a familiar Chardonnay, this is the one to order.
La Crema Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2022
La Crema gets overlooked because it lives at every grocery store, but the Sonoma Coast bottling is genuinely well-made cool-climate Pinot. At $52 it's marked up, yes, but it's a versatile glass that works across most of Campo's small plates and won't divide the table.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2023
Forty-two dollars for a bottle that retails at $18 is a 133% markup on a wine you've had a hundred times before. Kim Crawford is fine in your fridge at home — it has no business being a splurge at a wine bar with actual Mediterranean options available.
La Crema Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2022 + Charcuterie Board
The bright acidity and red fruit in the Sonoma Coast Pinot cut right through the fat of cured meats without bullying any of the softer cheeses. It's a low-commitment pour that keeps the whole board tasting fresh.
Wednesday — Half-price bottles of wine all night, every Wednesday.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Campo is a genuinely fun downtown wine stop — the Mediterranean focus gives the list a real identity, and Wednesday half-price bottles make it a no-brainer mid-week destination. The American crowd-pleasers marked up past reason are the only thing holding this list back from something special.
