First Impression
The wine list at Carrabba's Wichita is exactly what you'd expect from a polished casual chain — recognizable labels, approachable prices, and zero surprises. It's not trying to be a wine destination, and it knows it. What saves it from being forgettable is a Wednesday promotion that legitimately makes bottles worth ordering.
Selection Deep Dive
The list runs 30–50 bottles and leans heavily California, with Decoy by Duckhorn anchoring the upper tier and Francis Ford Coppola's Director's Cut making appearances through national wine dinner programming. There's nothing from Piedmont, nothing from the Rhône, and no indie producers in sight — this is a greatest-hits lineup built for the widest possible audience. Italian representation seems to exist mostly in the house wine category, with Bonizio Rosso and Bonizio Bianco holding down the value end. If you came here hoping to find a sleeper Nero d'Avola or a Sicilian field blend, keep driving.
By the Glass
Ten to fifteen pours are available, with the house Bonizio Bianco and Bonizio Rosso at $5 during happy hour representing the clearest value on the menu. The glass program covers the basics — a white, a red, probably a Cab and a Chardonnay from California — without much ambiguity or adventure. Rotation appears minimal; this is a set-it-and-forget-it pour list.
Bonizio Rosso — $5
At five bucks a glass during happy hour, the house red is the smartest move on the menu. It's not going to change your life, but it's a clean, easy Italian-style red that does exactly what you need it to do alongside a plate of pasta.
Decoy by Duckhorn Merlot
Most people at Carrabba's default to whatever Cab is on the list, but the Decoy Merlot is the better bottle. Duckhorn's second label consistently punches above its price point, and Merlot genuinely flatters the kitchen's tomato-braised dishes better than a heavy Cab would.
Coppola Director's Cut
The Director's Cut gets a lot of promotional real estate in Carrabba's national wine dinner marketing, but at a chain restaurant markup it's an expensive way to drink a wine you can find at any grocery store. Save the budget for a Wednesday bottle or put it toward a second appetizer.
Decoy by Duckhorn Merlot + Chicken Marsala
Marsala sauce is earthy, a little sweet, and savory all at once — and Merlot's soft tannins and dark fruit don't try to fight it. The Decoy has enough structure to hold its own without overwhelming the dish the way a big Cab would.
Wednesday — Bottles of wine are discounted on Wednesdays — local marketing bills it as half-price, though the corporate promotion is structured as $10 off bottles. Confirm discount details with your server, but either way it's the best night to order a bottle.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Carrabba's Wichita isn't a wine destination, but it's a perfectly decent place to drink wine — especially on a Wednesday when the bottle prices come down to earth. Send a friend here for a casual weeknight dinner without hesitation; just don't send them expecting to be surprised.
