First Impression
You sit down, the Manhattan skyline fills the window, and the wine list arrives looking exactly like you'd expect from a waterfront spot in New Jersey trying to impress — a California-forward roster heavy on recognizable names. It's polished and reassuring, but it doesn't take many risks.
Selection Deep Dive
The list runs 150-plus bottles and leans hard into California, with the usual suspects showing up in force: Caymus, Jordan, Duckhorn, Rombauer, Stag's Leap, Sonoma-Cutrer. These are crowd-pleasing labels that sell themselves, which is fine, but anyone hoping for a Burgundy rabbit hole or an interesting Rhône detour will come up short. The California focus does have genuine depth within its lane — there's enough to navigate a serious Cab or Chardonnay conversation — but the list reads more like a greatest-hits compilation than a curated cellar. For a restaurant that just earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025, the bones are there; the ambition, not quite yet.
By the Glass
The by-the-glass program runs 12-20 options, priced $12-$18, which feels about right for the setting but not exactly generous. You're likely looking at the same California producers in glass-pour format — Rombauer and Sonoma-Cutrer will be easy finds — though there's no sign of serious rotation or a thoughtful BTG curation strategy.
Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay — $45
If it's sitting near the lower end of the bottle range, this is a genuinely solid Chardonnay from a well-regarded vineyard that punches above its price point here — especially with the sushi and lighter seafood dishes on the menu.
Jordan Winery Cabernet Sauvignon
Jordan gets overlooked because it's not flashy, but it's consistently one of the most food-friendly Cabs in California — less extracted than Caymus, better with food, and underrated by anyone chasing bigger names.
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon
Caymus is the most-requested Cab in America, which means restaurants mark it up accordingly. You're paying for the name at this point. Jordan or Stag's Leap will drink just as well for your money.
Duckhorn Merlot + Dry-aged steak
Duckhorn Merlot has enough structure and dark fruit to stand up to a dry-aged cut without overwhelming it — it's the move when you want red wine with steak but don't want to fight the tannins all night.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Drift is a reliable California wine list bolted onto a genuinely great view — it'll satisfy most tables without challenging anyone. Send a friend if they want a safe, well-executed bottle with their steak and a killer skyline; just don't send them expecting to discover something new.
