First Impression
Fleming's walks in with its chest out — 100+ bottles, a sommelier badge on the lapel, and a list built almost entirely around the premise that you're here for a big Cab with a bigger steak. It's confident, polished, and exactly what you'd expect from a national chain that takes wine seriously enough to hire real staff. Just don't come looking for surprises.
Selection Deep Dive
The list leans hard into California, specifically Napa, with marquee names like Silver Oak, Opus One Overture, Joseph Phelps, and Ornellaia anchoring the premium tier. There's some Italian presence — Ornellaia being the standout — but this isn't a globe-trotting list by any stretch. The Hess Allomi Cabernet and Lion Tamer Red Blend represent the more accessible end, while the upper shelves climb toward serious collector territory at $625. Gaps are obvious: Burgundy, Rhône, Spain, and anything remotely natural are essentially absent.
By the Glass
Eighteen-plus by-the-glass options is a genuinely strong program for a steakhouse, with prices running $11 to $28 a pour. The range tracks the bottle list — California-forward, Cab-heavy, and built for steak — with Mionetto and Schramsberg adding some sparkling options for those who want bubbles before the ribeye lands. Rotation doesn't appear to be aggressive, but the selection covers the bases well enough that you won't feel stranded.
Hess Allomi Cabernet Sauvignon — $11–$15/glass
A 92-point Napa Cab that punches well above its entry-level price point on this list. It's the move if you want the California Cab experience without committing to a three-figure bottle.
Opus One Overture
Most people walk right past the 'second labels' to chase the headline bottles, but Overture — Opus One's non-vintage blend — delivers that same Napa pedigree and house style at a meaningfully lower price than its famous sibling. It's the smartest way to taste that cellar's DNA without the full splurge.
Mionetto Prosecco
Mionetto is a grocery store brand sold at a steakhouse markup. If you want bubbles, step up to the Schramsberg — it's actual American sparkling wine made with care, and the price jump is worth every dollar.
Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon + Prime Ribeye
Silver Oak's Alexander Valley Cab is built for exactly this moment — ripe dark fruit, vanilla oak, and enough structure to cut through the fat on a prime ribeye without overwhelming it. This is the pairing Fleming's was designed around, and it earns that reputation.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Fleming's Providence is a reliable, well-run steakhouse wine program — the sommelier is real, the glassware is proper, and the Napa heavyweights are all present. Just know you're paying chain-restaurant markups for the privilege, and the list won't take you anywhere unexpected.
