First Impression
Walking into a cozy farm-to-table spot on Larchmont Ave and finding a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence on the wall isn't what you expect β but Heritage 147 earns it. The list isn't massive, but it's clearly been curated by someone who actually drinks wine and thinks about the food coming out of that kitchen. It punches above its weight for a neighborhood restaurant.
Selection Deep Dive
The 80-120 bottle range covers the reliable holy trinity of France, California, and Spain β which tracks with Heritage 147's Wine Spectator citation. Burgundy is anchored by the workhorses Drouhin and Jadot, giving you credible entry points without casino-level pricing. Spain earns real respect here with Rioja and Ribera del Duero on the list, which most farm-to-table spots in Westchester wouldn't bother with. The RhΓ΄ne Valley selections add a nice savory counterpoint to what could otherwise be an all-Pinot-and-Cab list.
By the Glass
Ten to sixteen by-the-glass options is a genuinely solid program for a restaurant this size β enough to drink well across the whole meal without committing to a bottle. The $12β$18 glass range is honest for this market; you're not being gouged. We'd want to know how often the list rotates, but the Active Program on Wine Wednesdays suggests someone is paying attention.
Spanish Rioja β $45-$55
Rioja at a farm-to-table spot is almost always underpriced relative to quality β tempranillo-based reds from this region drink like they cost significantly more, and at Heritage 147's bottle pricing they're likely the best QPR on the list.
RhΓ΄ne Valley Selection
Everyone goes straight for the Burgundy or Napa Cab, but the RhΓ΄ne pick here is the move β earthy, food-friendly, and built for a table full of roasted vegetables and heritage pork dishes.
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
At $90β$120 a bottle, Napa Cab at a neighborhood restaurant almost always means modest producers marked up for the name recognition. There are better, more interesting bottles on this list for less money.
Ribera del Duero + Heritage Breed Pork
Ribera del Duero's Tempranillo has enough dark fruit and structure to stand up to a rich heritage breed pork dish, while the earthiness in the wine mirrors the farm-sourced character of the food. This is why the Spain section exists on this list.
Wednesday β Half-price wine night every Wednesday β the best deal in Larchmont for a bottle of something decent.
π² The Bottom Line
Heritage 147 is exactly the kind of neighborhood restaurant that deserves more attention for its wine program β fair prices, a Wednesday night half-price deal that should be on your calendar, and a list that shows real intention. If you're in Larchmont, this is your wine night.
