The list leans hard into California — Caymus, Jordan, Stag's Leap, Duckhorn, Cakebread, Rombauer, Opus One — which makes sense for a Hawaiian crowd that skews toward familiar west coast names. Fine wine for a Tuesday night at home, but you're sitting in a wine bar with an Award of Excellence and real options in front of you. The markup on grocery store staples like this rarely makes sense, and you can do better for the same money.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon + Kalua Pork Sliders
The smoky, fatty richness of kalua pork needs something with enough structure to cut through it. Stag's Leap brings that classic Napa backbone — firm tannins, dark fruit — without bulldozing the food the way a heavier Cab would.
