Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Jasper's reads like a greatest hits of California wine retail — the names are familiar, the prices are not offensive but not generous either. It's a list that was clearly built to reassure rather than excite. You won't feel lost, but you probably won't feel challenged.
California dominates here, with a supporting cast from the Pacific Northwest and a nod to Texas Hill Country that feels more obligatory than passionate. The marquee names — Jordan, Rombauer, Duckhorn — are crowd-pleasers that move well in an upscale suburban steakhouse context, but the list doesn't venture far beyond what you'd find at a well-stocked Total Wine. There's no real Old World presence to speak of, no natural wine curiosity, and the Texas section likely won't surprise any locals. The 80-to-120 bottle range gives them room to do more, but the curation doesn't take the opportunity.
Twelve to twenty pours by the glass is a solid count for this format, and the $12–$22 range is reasonable for North Plano. The selections mirror the bottle list — California-forward, approachable, and unlikely to surprise you in either direction. Don't expect the glass program to rotate with any urgency.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley — $45 (estimated bottle entry)
Jordan is reliably well-made, consistently drinkable, and carries real name recognition without the Napa price premium. If it lands near the low end of their bottle range, it's the most honest glass of red on the list for a table splitting a steak.
Ferrari-Carano Fumé Blanc, Sonoma County
Most tables here are going straight for the Rombauer or ordering a Cab — which means the Ferrari-Carano Fumé Blanc gets overlooked. It's a sleek, food-friendly white that plays well with wood-fired flavors and won't bore you halfway through the bottle.
Rombauer Chardonnay, Carneros
Rombauer is fine. It's also on every suburban restaurant wine list in America, almost always marked up past the point of good judgment. You're paying for the name recognition at this point, not the wine.
Duckhorn Merlot, Napa Valley + Slow Smoked Pork Ribs
Duckhorn Merlot has the fruit weight and soft tannins to stand up to the smoke and char without steamrolling the sweetness in the ribs. It's a natural match — plush enough to complement the fat, structured enough not to disappear into the sauce.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Jasper's is a perfectly competent wine program for a suburban upscale grill — it'll satisfy the table without embarrassing anyone. Just don't come here expecting discovery; come here expecting the Jordan you already know you like.
