Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Lazlo's South Lincoln is short and predictable — 18 labels deep and leaning hard into California comfort zones. This is a brewpub first and a wine destination never, but the list isn't embarrassing either. It does exactly what it needs to do for the crowd that wanders in for a hickory-grilled ribeye and isn't ordering a pint.
California owns this list almost entirely — Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, and a nod to the Central Coast cover most of the real estate. You've got recognizable names like Seghesio, Daou, La Crema, and Emmolo, which tells you someone put in a minimum viable effort to stock familiar, crowd-pleasing labels rather than just grabbing whatever the distributor pushed. There's no Old World presence worth mentioning, no Burgundy, no Rhône, and the lone Argentinian Malbec only appears to be tied to a cocktail rather than a proper pour. Washington State gets a mention but it's a blink-and-you-miss-it presence on a list that clearly never strayed far from its comfort zone.
Sixteen of the 18 labels are available by the glass, which is genuinely impressive for a brewpub and the best thing about this wine program. Pours come in 6oz and 9oz options with glass prices ranging from $9 to $21, keeping it accessible without feeling cheap. The rotation doesn't appear to change much — this reads more like a set-it-and-forget-it program than one with any active curation.
Dona Paula Malbec, Uco Valley, Argentina — $32/bottle
At $32 a bottle, the Dona Paula is the most approachable entry point on the list and represents solid value for a proper Uco Valley Malbec — expect dark fruit, some structure, and zero pretension. It's the pick if you're splitting a bottle at the table and don't want to overthink it.
Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, California
Emmolo doesn't get nearly enough credit — it's the Caymus family's side project and produces a clean, textured Napa Sauvignon Blanc that punches above its price point. Most people here are ordering Chardonnay on autopilot; the Emmolo is the smarter move for a white pour.
La Marca Prosecco, Treviso, Italy
At $39 a bottle, La Marca is being sold at a significant premium over what it costs at any grocery store in Lincoln. It's an extremely entry-level Prosecco that should be a $12 glass option, not a nearly $40 bottle commitment. Pass.
Seghesio Zinfandel, Sonoma, California + Hickory-grilled steak
Seghesio's Sonoma Zinfandel is built for exactly this kind of food — the bold dark fruit and peppery backbone match the smoky char coming off Lazlo's hickory grill without either one bullying the other. It's a natural fit and probably the highest-quality bottle on the list.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Lazlo's South Lincoln is a reliable neighborhood brewpub that happens to stock a respectable short wine list — don't expect discovery, but you won't feel stranded if you're skipping the beer. Send a friend here for dinner knowing the wine won't embarrass anyone.
