Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Le Rendez-vous arrives the same way the room does — white tablecloths, candlelight, and an unmistakable commitment to staying in its lane. The list leans entirely into the French classics: Burgundy, Bordeaux, Rhône, Loire, Alsace. No detours, no surprises.
This is a France-only affair, and that's not necessarily a knock — if you're eating Duck à l'orange under soft lighting in Tucson, you probably didn't come here for a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The regional range covers the major appellations you'd expect: Burgundy whites and reds, Rhône blends, Loire Valley finds like the Domaine Huet Vouvray, and Champagne representation via Veuve Clicquot. The list clocks in somewhere between 80 and 150 bottles, which sounds substantial, but the selections skew toward safe, recognizable names rather than any real depth of grower or terroir exploration. It does the job for the room it's in, but don't expect to discover anything you haven't seen before.
The by-the-glass program runs 8–14 options, which is a reasonable spread for a restaurant of this size and style. Expect the usuals — a Burgundy white, a Rhône red, likely the Jaboulet Parallèle 45 making an appearance. Rotation appears minimal; this list doesn't change much with the seasons.
Domaine Huet Vouvray Demi-Sec 'Le Haut-Lieu' 2020 — $86
At 91% over retail, the Huet is the least punishing markup on the list — and it's genuinely one of the great Loire Valley whites. With the right dish, it's the most interesting bottle on the table.
Domaine Huet Vouvray Demi-Sec 'Le Haut-Lieu' 2020
Most people see 'demi-sec' and assume dessert wine territory and move on. Don't. This Huet has the acidity and structure to work as a food wine, and in a room full of Burgundy-by-default drinkers, it's the most interesting glass in the house.
Paul Jaboulet Aîné Côtes du Rhône 'Parallèle 45' Rouge 2020
At $56 for a bottle you can grab at your local shop for $18, this is a 211% markup on an entry-level Rhône blend that does nothing special. It's fine wine — but it's not $56 fine.
Domaine Huet Vouvray Demi-Sec 'Le Haut-Lieu' 2020 + Duck à l'orange
The demi-sec's restrained sweetness and bright Chenin Blanc acidity cut straight through the richness of the duck and play off the citrus in the orange sauce. It's a classic Loire-meets-classic-French-bistro move that actually earns the white tablecloth.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Le Rendez-vous is a genuinely charming room with a wine list that supports the experience without ever elevating it — watch the markups, zero in on the Huet, and you'll have a lovely evening. If you're coming for the wine, manage expectations; if you're coming for the atmosphere, the list will do just fine.
