The wine list at Malone's Hamburg reads like a greatest hits album from the California wine aisle — familiar, comfortable, and exactly what you'd expect at a busy steakhouse moving serious volume on a Saturday night. There's nothing here to surprise you, but nothing to embarrass you either. It's a list built for people who already know what they want.
The 100-plus labels lean hard into California and the Pacific Northwest, with Napa Cabs and coastal Pinots holding down the bulk of the real estate. You'll find recognizable names like Caymus, Jordan, and Meiomi doing the heavy lifting, which tells you the list was curated for easy sells, not exploration. There's little love for Europe — Old World drinkers will find slim pickings. The range in bottle pricing from around $40 to $160 gives you some room to move, but the upper end is where the markups start to sting.
Twelve to eighteen pours by the glass at $10–$18 is a reasonable spread for a steakhouse of this size and energy. You're not getting rotating gems or anything particularly adventurous — it's Meiomi, Kendall-Jackson, Santa Margherita territory. Functional and crowd-tested, but don't come here expecting a by-the-glass program that keeps you guessing.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley — $60–$80 (est. bottle)
Jordan consistently overdelivers for what it is — structured, food-friendly Cab with genuine Sonoma character. It's the one bottle on this list that earns its price tag alongside a prime steak.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio
Everyone ignores this one at a steakhouse because they came for red meat, but Santa Margherita is a legitimately well-made Pinot Grigio and it shines with the Malone's seafood options or as a pre-dinner pour while the table figures out its steak order.
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Caymus is everywhere, and everywhere it's marked up accordingly. At a steakhouse, you're likely paying a significant premium for the label recognition. Jordan gives you a better story for less money.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley + USDA Prime Steak
Jordan's Cab has the tannin structure and dark fruit backbone to stand up to a well-marbled prime cut without overwhelming the beef. It's the classic move here, and the classic move is classic for a reason.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Malone's Hamburg is a dependable steakhouse wine list — well-stocked with familiar California names at prices that lean steep but won't shock anyone. Send a friend here for a reliable night out; just don't send the adventurous wine drinker expecting discovery.
