The wine list at Mission + Market is tight — 18 labels, all available by the glass, which is actually a smart move for a New American spot that wants flexibility over depth. At first glance it reads like an airport business lounge: recognizable names, safe regions, nothing that's going to make anyone uncomfortable. That's not a dig, exactly — it just tells you what this place is prioritizing.
The list leans heavily on California and France, with a few token appearances from Italy, Spain, Argentina, and Oregon. You get the Faust Cab, the DAOU Cab, The Prisoner's Saldo — basically a greatest hits of wine brands that show up on every corporate expense account in America. The bright spots are the Domaine Durand Sancerre, the Vinos Marinos El Neptuno Albariño, and the Rivetti Barolo 2019, which genuinely has no business being on a list this conventional. Gaps are real: no white Burgundy beyond a Chablis, no Riesling, nothing from the Southern Hemisphere, and the Rhône gets a single rosé.
Everything — all 18 wines — is available by the glass, which gives this list more flexibility than most. Pours range from $12 to $34, and at the top end you're getting into territory where a full bottle somewhere nearby starts to make more financial sense. The BTG breadth is the list's biggest asset; the pricing at the upper tier is its biggest liability.
Vinos Marinos El Neptuno Albariño 2023 — $14
Galician Albariño at this price point is a genuine win. It's crisp, saline, and a far more interesting pour than the Luna Nuda Pinot Grigio sitting right next to it on the list. If you're drinking white wine here, this is the move.
Rivetti Barolo 2019
This bottle sticks out like a tuxedo at a cookout — in the best possible way. Rivetti is a serious Piedmontese producer and 2019 was a strong vintage in Barolo. Nobody ordering alongside the Faust crowd is going to reach for it, which means more for you.
DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
DAOU is fine wine, but it's also one of the most widely distributed, heavily marketed Cabs in the country. You can find it at Costco. Paying restaurant glass pour prices for something this ubiquitous — when the Rivetti Barolo is sitting right there — is a missed opportunity.
Domaine Durand Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2024 + Oysters or any seafood starter on the New American menu
Sancerre and shellfish is one of those combinations that exists for a reason. The Loire Valley acidity and flinty minerality cut right through brine and butter, and Domaine Durand is the kind of producer that earns that $28 glass price rather than just charging it.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Mission + Market's wine list is competent and crowd-friendly — it'll take care of you without surprising you. Come here for the food and the convenience; if you're willing to look past the celebrity Cabs, there are a couple of genuinely good pours hiding in plain sight.
