Solid Italian anchor, wine list plays it safe

Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Sapori feels exactly like the room — warm, familiar, and not trying to surprise you. You get California and Washington workhorses doing their thing, with a nod to Italy that never quite goes deep enough. It's comfortable, which is both the appeal and the limitation.
The list leans heavily on recognizable names: Duckhorn, La Crema, Chateau Ste. Michelle. These are crowd-pleasing labels that sell themselves, which means the wine program is doing minimal heavy lifting. The Italian representation — arguably the most important category for a trattoria — is underwhelming given the cuisine. There's no real cellar depth here, no grower Barolo or earthy Sangiovese to get excited about. What you get is a safe, hotel-bar-style selection that won't offend but won't inspire either.
Eight by-the-glass options in the $10–$16 range is a reasonable spread for a neighborhood Italian spot. The pours appear to be static — we see no evidence of rotation or a rotating feature program. At these prices you're paying for convenience and brand recognition, not discovery.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Canoe Ridge Chardonnay 2020 — $42
At 68% over retail it's not exactly a steal, but it's the most reasonable bottle on the list relative to what you're getting — a clean, food-friendly Washington Chardonnay that holds its own next to the truffle risotto without bankrupting the table.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Canoe Ridge Chardonnay 2020
Most people sleep on Washington Chardonnay and reach for California out of habit. Canoe Ridge is a single-vineyard fruit-forward white with real structure — it actually makes sense with the menu in a way the obvious California picks don't.
Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
At $85 on the list against a $55 retail price, you're paying a 55% premium for a bottle you can grab at any decent wine shop. Duckhorn is fine wine — but fine wine at a markup that only makes sense if you forgot to stop at Total Wine on the way here.
La Crema Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2021 + Osso buco
The braised veal in osso buco wants something with bright acidity and red fruit to cut through the richness — La Crema's Sonoma Coast Pinot has enough structure and cherry-forward character to do the job without overpowering the dish. It's not a bold pairing, but it's a smart one.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Sapori is a perfectly decent neighborhood Italian spot where the wine list does just enough not to embarrass itself. Send a friend here for the food and the atmosphere — just temper expectations on the wine side and consider ordering by the glass to keep the bill from running away.
