First Impression
You walk into a restored historic house in the middle of downtown Fredericksburg and suddenly the weekend feels a lot more manageable. Shaded oak trees out back, gardens, indoor nooks β this place is doing the atmosphere thing right. The list is tight and house-focused, which is exactly what you'd expect from a winery tasting room that isn't trying to be something it isn't.
Selection Deep Dive
Everything on the list is Signor Vineyards' own production, so if you're hoping to comparison-shop across producers, you're at the wrong address. What they do offer is a focused snapshot of what the Texas Hill Country can do β Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a RosΓ© that leans into the laid-back setting. Tempranillo is the most interesting bet here; it's the grape that actually has a legitimate argument for Hill Country terroir, and Signor is leaning into it. The Cab is the crowd pleaser that'll sell in volume, and that's fine.
By the Glass
It's a tasting room, so by-the-glass is essentially the whole model β you're here to try things, not just order a bottle and sit. Specific pour counts and pricing weren't available in our research, but the $$ price range suggests this isn't going to hurt your wallet. Expect flight options alongside individual pours; that's standard Hill Country tasting room protocol.
Signor Vineyards RosΓ© β Unknown
In a tasting room setting with shaded outdoor tables and a charcuterie board in front of you, a local RosΓ© at $$ pricing is almost always the move. It's the wine that works hardest in this context, and it won't be marked up to oblivion.
Signor Vineyards Tempranillo
Most visitors gravitate toward the Cabernet because it's familiar, but the Tempranillo is where Signor actually has something to say. Hill Country Tempranillo has been quietly building a case for itself as the region's most natural fit, and skipping it here means missing the point of the whole stop.
Signor Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
Not bad, just the least interesting thing on the menu. Cab is the default ask in Texas wine country and this one is unlikely to change your priors. Unless it's the only red you drink, try something else first.
Signor Vineyards Tempranillo + Charcuterie
Tempranillo and cured meats is practically a Spanish law for good reason β the savory, earthy notes in the wine cut right through the fat and salt of a charcuterie spread. On a shaded patio in the Hill Country, this is a pretty hard combination to argue with.
π² The Bottom Line
Signor's downtown location is a genuinely pleasant place to spend an afternoon if you're already in Fredericksburg wine country β the setting does a lot of the heavy lifting. It's not a destination for serious wine exploration, but for a relaxed pour of something local and honest, it earns its spot on the itinerary.
