First Impression
The wine list at Tap 42 reads like a greatest hits of grocery store recognizables — Josh Cellars, Meiomi, Oyster Bay. It's not trying to be a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be. What it does have going for it is a Wednesday deal that actually changes the math.
Selection Deep Dive
The bottle list leans heavily California and Pacific Northwest, with a few token Italian entries to cover the prosecco and pinot grigio crowd. You'll find names like En Route Russian River and Elouan Oregon sitting alongside Meiomi and The Calling Monterey — there's a West Coast throughline, but no real depth or surprise. Old World drinkers are mostly left out, and anyone looking for a Burgundy, a Rioja, or even a domestic Syrah is going to come up empty. It's a casual bar list that checks the obvious boxes without venturing anywhere interesting.
By the Glass
Six pours on the glass menu, starting at $8 — Gambino Prosecco, Ruffino Pinot Grigio, Fleurs de Prairie Rosé, Josh Cellars Chardonnay, Rispetto Cabernet Sauvignon, and Oyster Bay Merlot. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority here; these feel like set-and-leave selections. The Fleurs de Prairie is the standout of the bunch — the rest are perfectly fine but thoroughly predictable.
En Route Russian River California Pinot Noir — $50 bottle (reduced Wednesday)
En Route is a legitimately good Russian River Pinot that would cost you $45+ retail. With $20 off on Wednesday alongside an entree, this is the one bottle on the list that punches above its weight and makes the deal worth using.
Fleurs de Prairie Rosé
Most people at a craft bar skip the rosé entirely and go straight for a beer or a cab. Don't. Fleurs de Prairie is a Provence-style rosé that's drier and more structured than its neighbors on this list, and at $8 a glass it's the most interesting pour they offer.
Josh Cellars Chardonnay
You can buy this at Publix for $12 a bottle. At restaurant markup it becomes a bad deal fast, and there's nothing here — no winemaking effort, no terroir interest — that justifies paying bar prices for it.
Elouan Oregon Pinot Noir + Salmon Bowl
Oregon Pinot and salmon is a classic West Coast pairing for good reason — the wine's earthy red fruit and restrained tannins don't fight the fish the way a bigger red would, and Elouan keeps it approachable enough that you don't need to think too hard about it.
Wednesday — $20 off all bottles of wine all day with purchase of an entree — chain-wide promotion, available at all Tap 42 locations
✔️ The Bottom Line
Tap 42 isn't where you go to drink well — it's where you go to drink fine while eating decent food on a patio. Come on a Wednesday, order the En Route, and you'll leave happy enough.
