First Impression
You're sitting on a deck overlooking Choctawhatchee Bay with a grouper sandwich incoming — the wine list fits the moment without trying to be more than it is. It's California-forward and recognizable, which is exactly what the crowd here is expecting. Wine Spectator handed them an Award of Excellence in 2024, and honestly, it tracks.
Selection Deep Dive
The list runs 80 to 120 bottles and leans hard on California names that sell themselves: Jordan, Rombauer, Stag's Leap, Duckhorn, Sonoma-Cutrer. It's not adventurous — there's no Burgundy rabbit hole to fall down, no natural wine detour — but everything here is a known quantity done well. Gaps exist in Old World and Southern Hemisphere coverage, but at a waterfront Gulf Coast seafood spot, that's forgivable. The price ceiling reaches above $200 for select bottles, which signals some ambition beyond the house pours.
By the Glass
Twelve to eighteen options by the glass is a respectable spread for a restaurant of this size and style. You're not going to find an obscure Grüner or a skin-contact Pinot Gris in the rotation, but solid California whites and reds are well-represented. The glass program feels steady rather than dynamic — don't expect seasonal swaps or weekly features.
Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc — $45
Duckhorn's Sauvignon Blanc consistently punches above its price tier and lands perfectly against the Gulf oysters and tuna tartare on this menu. If it's priced fairly here — and the overall markup trend suggests it is — this is the move.
Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay
Most people grab the Rombauer because it's louder on the label, but the Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches bottling is the more interesting glass — better acidity, more restrained oak, and it handles the fresh Gulf catch more gracefully.
Meiomi Pinot Noir
Meiomi is a grocery store shelf staple dressed up in a restaurant wine list. At whatever markup they're charging, you're overpaying for something blended for mass appeal. The other reds on this list give you more for your money.
Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay + Fresh Gulf Grouper
The Chardonnay's bright stone fruit and measured oak don't steamroll the delicate sweetness of Gulf grouper the way a heavier California Chard would. It's a clean, confident match for a clean, confident fish.
✔️ The Bottom Line
The Bay isn't a wine destination, but it's a reliable pour with waterfront views and a Wine Spectator stamp to back it up. Come for the Gulf seafood, order the Sonoma-Cutrer, and enjoy the bay.
