Great Burgers, Forget the Wine List

The Bird is a legitimately great burger bar — loud, unpretentious, and exactly what you want after a day on the mountain. The wine list, however, looks like someone grabbed three bottles off a grocery store endcap and called it a program. If you came here for wine, you came to the wrong party.
The list clocks in at under fifteen labels, and the heaviest hitters are Apothic Red, Kendall-Jackson Chard, and Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio — three wines that appear on practically every lazy list from here to Applebee's. There's no regional ambition, no local Wyoming angle, no attempt to sneak in something interesting. The whole thing reads like a wine program that exists because the liquor license requires it, not because anyone behind the bar cares. Beer is clearly the religion here, and that's fine — just don't expect more from the wine shelf.
You're looking at four to six options by the glass, all in the $8–$12 range, and none of them will surprise you. The rotation appears to be essentially permanent — there's no evidence anything on this list has changed in years. It's a pour-and-forget setup.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Valdadige — $42
It's the least offensive option on the list and at least has some name recognition for a reason — it's a reliably clean, inoffensive white. That said, $42 for a bottle that retails at $25 is still a stretch for a burger bar, so glass pours only if you must.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Valdadige
Not exactly a hidden gem in the traditional sense, but in this context it's the one wine that's actually produced with some intention behind it. Relative to its listmates, it's the clear choice if you're ordering wine at all.
Apothic Red Blend
A $10 retail bottle marked up to $30 is a tough ask anywhere, but especially when the wine itself is a mass-produced, sugar-forward blend designed for people who don't really like wine. Order a beer instead — The Bird does beer right.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Valdadige + Chicken Wings
The Pinot Grigio's clean acidity and light body cut through the fat and salt of the wings without fighting the heat. It's not a profound pairing, but it works — and on a warm deck overlooking the valley, it does the job.
❌ The Bottom Line
The Bird is a damn good burger bar and we'd send anyone there for food and cold beer. The wine list is an afterthought at best and a mild rip-off at worst — order a local craft draft and save the wine for dinner somewhere that gives a damn.
