First Impression
You're sitting on a patio with sweeping Sonoran Desert views and a wine list that reads like a greatest hits compilation of California's greatest hits. It's comfortable, familiar, and entirely intentional — this isn't a place trying to challenge you, it's a place trying to not ruin your sunset. That's not nothing.
Selection Deep Dive
The list skews hard California — Stag's Leap, Silver Oak, Duckhorn, Jordan, Cakebread, Rombauer — all names your parents recognize and your dinner guests won't argue with. There's zero adventurousness here: no Rhône rangers, no domestic Pinot deep cuts, no token old-world column to keep things interesting. What it does have is a coherent identity — this is a golf resort wine list curated for people who ordered Rombauer Chardonnay at their last three restaurants and liked it every time. The 80–120 bottle range gives it enough depth to feel like a proper list without ever threatening to make you think too hard.
By the Glass
Somewhere between 12 and 18 pours by the glass at $10–$18, which is a reasonable spread for a resort-casual room. Expect the usual suspects to anchor the list — a Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay, probably a Cabernet or two, maybe a Merlot. No evidence of regular rotation or a dedicated BTG program, so what you see tonight is likely what you saw last Tuesday.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon — $60
Jordan consistently punches above its price point and represents real Alexander Valley craftsmanship. On a list with Silver Oak competing for the same drinker, Jordan usually comes in lower and drinks just as well with a ribeye in front of you.
Duckhorn Merlot
Everyone on this list is ordering Cabernet or Chardonnay, which means the Duckhorn Merlot gets slept on constantly. It's one of the best producers working with Merlot in Napa — rich, structured, and genuinely interesting if you give it a chance.
Rombauer Chardonnay
Look, Rombauer is fine. It's also on every resort wine list in America at a significant markup, and you've almost certainly had it. The Sonoma-Cutrer is right there, drinks cleaner, and probably costs less. Save Rombauer for when someone else is buying.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon + Prime Ribeye Steak
Stag's Leap built its reputation on exactly this moment — a structured Napa Cab with real tannin sitting next to a properly seared ribeye. The fat softens the wine, the wine makes the beef taste more like beef. Classic for a reason.
✔️ The Bottom Line
The Patio at Las Sendas is a reliable California wine list attached to a genuinely beautiful outdoor dining room — it's not going to surprise you, but it's also not going to embarrass you. Send a friend here if they want a nice bottle with a view; just don't send them if they're looking to discover something new.
