First Impression
The wine list at Tide Room reads like a confident greatest-hits compilation — names you recognize, producers you trust, nothing that's going to make you nervous. For a beachfront spot in Ocean City, that's actually higher praise than it sounds. The recent Wine Spectator Award of Excellence signals that someone here is paying attention.
Selection Deep Dive
The 80-120 bottle list leans hard into California and France, which tracks with the crowd and the kitchen. You'll find the reliable California pillars — Rombauer, Jordan, Sonoma-Cutrer, Duckhorn — doing exactly what they're supposed to do, and Louis Jadot waving the French flag without embarrassing anyone. Don't come hunting for obscure Jura pours or skin-contact Sicilians; this list was built to sell, not to educate. That said, the producers are legitimate — these aren't grocery store brands slapped on a laminated card.
By the Glass
With 12-18 pours running $10-$16 a glass, the BTG program is solid enough for a table that can't agree on a bottle. Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and Meiomi Pinot Noir are the workhorses here — approachable, consistent, safe. We'd love to see more rotation and a few curveballs on the glass list, but for a beach restaurant in season, this hits the mark.
Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay — $45–$55
Russian River Ranches is genuinely one of California's better Chardonnay values at retail, and at Tide Room's pricing it doesn't get gouged. It's the right wine for the right place — bright, restrained enough, and perfect against a plate of pan-seared scallops.
Louis Jadot Burgundy
Most tables here will default to California whites without a second thought, which means the Jadot is sitting quietly and underordered. A proper Burgundy with steamed Maryland blue crabs is a combination most people at this table haven't tried — and they should.
Rombauer Chardonnay
Rombauer is fine — it's just also on every list in America and tends to carry an inflated price tag wherever it lands. You can drink better at this table for the same money.
Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay + Pan-seared scallops
The wine's bright acidity and restrained oak cut through the richness of seared scallops without overpowering the sweetness of the seafood. It's a classic California coastal match that works every time.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Tide Room isn't going to blow any wine nerds away, but it's a legitimately well-curated list for a beachfront restaurant — fair prices, trusted producers, and a Wine Spectator credential that's earned. Send a friend here and tell them to order the Sonoma-Cutrer and the scallops.
