Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Ventano reads like a greatest hits album you've heard a hundred times — Rombauer, Caymus, Santa Margherita, all front and center. It's clearly curated to make suburban Henderson feel like a special night out, and for a lot of tables, it delivers exactly that. Just don't come looking for anything that'll make you lean forward in your chair.
The list pulls from two main lanes: Italian classics (Tuscany, Northern Italy) and California heavyweights (Napa, Sonoma), which makes sense given the restaurant's identity. You'll find Antinori Tignanello sitting at the top shelf alongside Stag's Leap and Caymus, giving the list some legitimate credibility. The problem is there's almost nothing between the $45 crowd-pleasers and the splurge bottles — the middle ground is thin and the picks feel interchangeable. Regions like Piedmont, Burgundy, or even domestic Rhône varieties are largely absent, which leaves the adventurous diner with nowhere to go.
With 15-25 options by the glass and a $12-$22 price window, the BTG program is one of the more generous in the Henderson suburbs. The lineup sticks to familiar faces — Meiomi Pinot Noir and Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio are almost certainly anchoring the list. Rotation appears minimal; this is a set-it-and-forget-it program that prioritizes recognition over discovery.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Alto Adige — $14
It's a crowd-pleaser for a reason — clean, dry, and citrus-forward, it punches above its price point by the glass and holds up well against the restaurant's lighter seafood dishes without asking you to think too hard.
Antinori Tignanello Tuscany
Most tables at Ventano are ordering Caymus on autopilot and ignoring this Tuscan Super blend entirely. Tignanello is the more interesting bottle on the list — Sangiovese-forward with Cabernet structure, and it's one of the few wines here that actually rewards attention.
Rombauer Chardonnay Carneros
Rombauer is a reliable wine, but it's also one of the most marked-up labels in American restaurants. You're paying a steep premium for a bottle you can find at Total Wine for $35 — the restaurant knows you'll order it, and they price accordingly.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley + Chicken Saltimbocca
The sage, prosciutto, and white wine pan sauce in the Saltimbocca need a red with enough structure to hold its own without overwhelming the dish. Stag's Leap is polished and restrained for a Napa Cab — it bridges the gap between the rich protein and the herby, savory sauce without steamrolling everything.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Ventano is a reliable date-night option when you want a wine that sounds impressive to your table without requiring anyone to think too hard. The list won't challenge you, but it won't embarrass you either — just watch the markups.
